CES - LG HDDVD/BluRay Player
Benjamin shows us the new disc player from LG. The interesting feature of this disc player is that it plays both HD-DVD and BluRay discs. It also plays your regular red laser discs. This gives you one player for every disc-based media you have.
Benjamin Higginbotham: Benjamin Higginbotham with Technology Evangelist in
this LG booth at CES. They just showed off a really cool little player that
basically makes the HD-DVD and Blue-Ray wars obsolete, as quickly as they
started. Now, they are done. This box plays back both formats at once. So, you
have got one disk tray, you can playback either HD-DVD or your Blue-Ray right
in the same player.
Go to the store which ever disk you wanna buy, great that’s fine. If that
weren’t enough, it also plays back all your old stuff and plays all the Red
laser DVD’s as well. All the standard stamped DVD’s and Plus/Minus media also.
So, if it’s round and shiny, these guys can probably play it on their player.
That’s awesome, now the confusion in the market place is to which disk do I
buy, is that high def or standard def, all that stuff goes away. This allows
for mass adoption of HD finally, because all this weird stuff that’s been
happening behind the scenes is gone. All the consumer needs is one of these
boxes, a plasma screen and they have got the ultimate HD experience.
Check it out, it’s at LG.
